My review
Sister assassin was an interesting and thrilling book with complex characters and an exciting plot. Although, I'll admit I struggled getting into it, normally dual narratives and switching between the past and the present aren't things that bother me but mixing both with such short chapters meant the book switches a lot and I found it kind of dizzying with all the back and forth. Each flashback wasn't to the same time either, they were short flashbacks from different points in time leading up to where the story is now, so we only got short snippets of each point in the past that's supposed to be integral to the story, there isn't much to the present either as the book is actually pretty short. It felt more like a precursor to the second book, like a little history lesson before the main action starts so we understand who is who, in fact fifty less pages and it could've just been considered a novella prequel.
I did like the character of Fia though, probably because she's so broken and a little crazy, she'll do absolutely anything to protect her sister, and her abilitlies are so interesting. Annie, on the other hand, I found kind of boring and naive and I didn't find out enough about James to be bothered either way about him.
So all in all, a decent book but not brilliant, it had the potential and room for so much more action that would have spread the story out a bit more and I have hopes that's what will happen with book two which I intend to read when the time comes.

I do kind of like this cover its very unique, but at the same time, it doesn't jump out and say 'read me' to me either so I'm kind of on the fence. I also think that the US title 'Mind games' suits the book better.
