I love looking at pretty and different and just plain strange covers so these different features give me and Ninfa, who comments with me, an excuse to do it.

However, I would like to know if you think the post is to crowded, if I should split it up or if you like it?

This is a feature I made up myself not long after I started the blog, if you'd like to play along just post a foreign cover and link your post :)

First up is the Slovakian cover of Označená (Designated) by P.C. and Kristin Castová.

I really like this one, I love the pattern and the shade of blue and the girl is very pretty.

And this is the UK cover for comparison.

And I like this one to, the girls pink eye is very interesting and the font is cool.

UK vs US is where two covers of the same book from the UK and the US battle it.

This is not one I made up but I don't know where the feature originated either.

US definitely wins for me! Whilst the UK cover is pretty cool and different the models stance is completely lazy so she doesn't pull off that kick ass outfit and kinda ruins the cover. The girl on the US cover looks a lot tougher and I love the red and the lightening.

The Mercy series book three.

I love them both I'm not sure I could choose! The golds and the feathers and the butterfly's are all gorgeous on the UK cover but I do love the pinky purple colours on the AUS cover in the end though I think I have to vote UK! I also noticed how both have the girls face hidden, that's interesting! :)

Wednesdays worldly covers (38/39) and UK vs US (5/6)

Wednesdays worldly covers is a weekly feature I made up where every week I share a cover from around the world because who doesn't love a pretty cover!

Since we missed last week this week will be a double feature :)

This is the French cover for 'Mortels petits secrets' which translates to the same as our title Deadly little secret by Laurie Faria Stolarz.

Mist: I've never read this book but I'm pretty sure this crrepy cover doesn't suit it lol It's so dark and morbid, I don't like. but I do like the font and the pretty pink flowers and vines.

Ninfa: Really nice, I love the dark feel of it and the model with her eyes closed is very intriguing. It makes me want to know more about what she's hiding and why she looks almost ashamed. I like.

And this here is our cover in the UK and the US.

Mist: This one is so much nicer, it's breezy and kinda makes me think of spring. Whilst I don't think it'd stop me in a store, I like it.

Ninfa: I like the title and the frame around it is really pretty. Not sure about the actual whole cover though, it's kinda boring and doesn't really give me any big reactions...Perhaps a little too vague for me.

And for your second dose here's the German cover for Meerjungfrau sucht Prinz fürs Leben (Mermaid Prince looks for life) by Tera Lynn childs, otherwise known as Forgive my fins.

Mist: I don't get the title of this one at all (Perhaps Google translate didn't get it right lol) but I do think the cover is lots of fun, the way the tail is drawn on for a cartoonish feel, it lets me know this is a light book.

Ninfa: This cover is so much fun, and gives you a very clear idea of what the story is going to be like. I love the drawn mermaid tale and the gorgeous blue sea background. Very, very pretty.

And here is what it looks like in the UK.

Mist: I really love this cover. I like the aqua tint over the whole thing and the drawing of bubbles and shells and the fun font, it's great!

Ninfa: Very cute and very girlie, exactly what a YA cover should be. Love the little bubbles on the side and the pink title.

UK vs US is where we compare the uk and us cover of the same book.

Lots of other blogs do this but I don't know where it originated.

The Reapers are the Angels by Alden Bell

Mist: Whilst I like the US cover it's a UK win for me. I love the tag line and the eerie almost scary feel from the girl crouching alone. The US cover is cool but I don't like that yellow and the girl in the middle kind of doesn't fit in.

Ninfa: I prefer the US version with the gold yellow cover. It looks so apocalyptic and I like the lonely figure walking through the rubble in the destroyed city, it really makes me want to find out more about the book. The UK version is kinda sad and grey but I do like the tag at the top...if they put that on top of the US one it'd be perfect, so US win for me on this one.

And for the second helping I thought I'd do something a bit different.

POD by Stephen Wallenfells

Mist: Another UK win for me, it's simplicity gives it a creepier feel than the AUS cover that has lots going on and gives the book a younger feel. I love the blue on the UK cover of the and the tagline. The people on the AUS cover are kind of cheesy but I like all the clouds and lightening.

Ninfa: This is a UK win. I love the slick and elegant cover, it's so modern and sci-fi. The Aussie version is a little too busy for me and I don't like the POD title font and colour.

Wednesdays worldly covers is an original feature that I created (at least I haven't seen it elsewhere!)

Every week I share a cover from around the world.

This is the Spanish cover for Inmortal (Immortal) by Alma Katsu

Mist: Isn't it creepy, masks can always be a little creepy and this one definitely is. Have to say I don't like that it has like stickers or something all over it.

Ninfa: This cover is very pretty. I love the masked face and the colours and it reminds me a little of some of the Morganville Vampires covers we had here in the UK.

And here is the UK cover where it's called The taker.

Mist: This one is nice to but not striking. It's kind of dark and I like the illustration.

Ninfa: Thia cover is also very,very pretty with almost a Tim Burton feeling to the drawing. It feels a little Gothic almost,with the dark red roses and the black and white background and the swirls. Really like this one

UK vs US is a meme lots of blogs do but I don't know where it originated.

Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick

Mist: Oh this is a hard one, I like them both for different reasons. The US cover is dark and when you get a good look at that face it's really freaky. The UK cover is simplar but I love the colour of it, it has an old feel to it and the edges even make it look aged. Even though it's the same book I get a different feel from each cover but I think it's a UK win for me but only just!

Ninfa: I like the UK cover but it has to be a US win for me. The cover for the US is kinda intriguing and I like the creepy vibe you get from it, with the face hiding through the maze-like circles,whilst the UK one with the girl's face is just not very exciting.

Wednesdays Worldly covers - #36 and UK vs US #3

Wednesdays worldly covers is an original feature I made up, each week I share a book cover from around the world.

This is the Dutch cover for De Bliksemdief (The lightening thief) by Rick Riordan, or otherwise known as Percy Jackson and the lightening thief.

Mist: I do like this cover but I think it gives the book an older feel than it's aimed at. The colours though are appealing and I like the dragon (or Pegasus?) in the distance.

Ninfa: This cover is a little too futuristic for me and it doesn't quite match the feel of the book, which I've read and loved.
I don't get why Percy is standing on a sort of eagle head on a building either...a little off for me and I just don't seem to love it.

And here of course is the UK cover.

Mist: This one I prefer I think, I like the yellow, it stands out and I love the Minotaur, I think this appeals more to young heros :)

Ninfa: The UK version is very heroic and it makes me think of myths and legends and really encopassing the theme of the book. I love the metallic colours and the font of the title. A good cover that appeals easily to both teenagers and those of us who've left those years behind.

UK vs US is a feature done by a lot of blogs but I don't know where it originated.

Mist: I really like both of these covers for different reasons, I love the colours in the UK cover but I like the creepy feel that tells me that this is perhaps on ghost story on the US cover. I don't like the drunken font on the US cover though. I think I prefer the UK cover overall, it's easier on the eye even if it doesn't tell me what the book is about lol.

Ninfa: Really love the US cover. I like the way the girl has her feet in the clouds and how the ground is above her head,makes me think about the story and what exactly is going on with the girl...I haven't seen or read anything about it but it kinda makes me guess it's about the afterlife and makes me curious about the story. A really pretty cover.
The UK one is okay as well,but less intriguing for me, though the girl looks dead to me which makes it a little creepy...
...it's a US win for me on this one :)

Wednesdays Worldly covers - #35 and UK vs US #2

Wednesdays worldly covers is a weekly feature of my own where each week I share a cover I've found from around the world.

 This weeks cover is a German cover for Indigo 01 - Im Sog des Meeres (Indigo 01 - In the wake of the sea) by Helen Dunmore.

Mist: I think the colours are a bit dark and drab on this cover but the artwork is great, I like that the mermaids tailfins are crossed but there's also a gap between them that's interesting.

Ninfa: I love the dark blue swirls on it and the font they used for the title. I'm not convinced about the actual mermaid figures as they look a little stiff. Looking at them it seems they should actually be touching each other which would have been nicer to see for me. All in all it makes me curious and it could be something I'd pick up in a shop to browse.

And this is the UK cover which is titled Ingo.

Mist: Now this one I love, that's why it's sitting on my shelf in my to-read pile. I love all the detail put into it, the fishes and the bubbles illustrate that the mermaid is in fast motion, almost like she's going to swim off the cover, I also really like the turquoise.

Ninfa: I really like this one,the mermaid figure is really pretty and I like the details of the underwater plants and the bubbles,it gives it a nice sense of movement,as if you could almost hear the mermaid splash into the sea. I'm intrigued by this cover and would probably buy the book,especially since I like the tag line on the cover as well.

Shadow Heir by Richelle Mead (Book four in the Dark Swan series)

Mist: The UK cover is easily my favourite of these two, the colours, the birds, the leaves and snowflakes, the pretty girl, I love it all! The US cover looks like a lot of other covers I've seen and I don't like that sickly pinky, orange colour.

Ninfa: This is a very difficult one as I love both covers! The US one is more "Urban Fantasy" isnpired and the only thing I can point out is that the model doesn't look like Eugenie at all!
So it's a UK win again,the cover is so pretty,and I love the details on it,the leaves intertwined around the face and the ravens. It's very Fantasy inspired and quite haunting. Much Love!

Wednesdays Worldly covers #34 and UK vs US #1

Wednesdays worldly covers is a weekly feature where each week I share a cover from around the world.

But now it's also getting a bit of a face lift becasue I've decided to now starting doing UK vs US along with it every week. Lots of other blogs already do it, including a couple I follow Totally bookalicious and Book passion for life so I thought I'd join in on all the cover fun.

Basically it's comparing a UK cover and a US cover of the same book to see which we like best.

Also, you all know Ninfa who runs the page on Facebook with me, well she's going to be appearing a lot more on the blog from now on, in her own guest posts and we'll do these posts together.

This weeks wwc is Herzklopfen auf Französisch (palpitations in French) It's the German cover for Anna and the french kiss by Stephanie Perkins.

Mist: Isn't it cute! I really love the cheeseness of the heart shaped croissants and the pink polka dots, it's very girly.

Ninfa: I  think this cover is adorable,really girly,fun and very pink,it also doesn't hurt that it has croissants on the cover,which are yummy and clearly a hint to the "French" in French Kissing ;)

And this here is the US cover (usually I show the UK one for comparison but it's not out over here!)

Mist: I like this one to, I like how the hands aren't quite touching, it makes you want to find out why. It's also very obvious where it's set with the Eiffle tower in the background lol

Ninfa: This cover with the Eiffel Tower is not for me...I find it a little tooo cliche' and a boring,there's nothing different or fun about it. not something I'd pick up in a book store,at least not me...

Mist: I love them both so much!! I love in the UK cover that the girl seems to floating and has that spark coming from her hand, it's so interesting and makes me want to know why, especially with that tag line. I also really love the light blue colour dotted around. But then I really like the pinky purple in the US cover and the light coming from her hand and the flower. Overall though I think I like the UK one the most.

Ninfa: For Touch of Power it has to be the UK cover. I don't like the girl in the US version,the whole things looks a little dated for me,like a '70s book cover or something,and the UK one reminds me of the covers for the "Study series" which I really loved,so It works better for me and it means the books will look great together in my bookshelves
