What's it about?

With the clock ticking until the virus takes its toll, Rhine is desperate for answers. After enduring Vaughn’s worst, Rhine finds an unlikely ally in his brother, an eccentric inventor named Reed. She takes refuge in his dilapidated house, though the people she left behind refuse to stay in the past. While Gabriel haunts Rhine’s memories, Cecily is determined to be at Rhine’s side, even if Linden’s feelings are still caught between them.
Meanwhile, Rowan’s growing involvement in an underground resistance compels Rhine to reach him before he does something that cannot be undone. But what she discovers along the way has alarming implications for her future—and about the past her parents never had the chance to explain.

Fever - Book two
My review
After reading the first two books back to back last year I've been waiting patiently for the release of the final book to see how it all ends and wasn't disappointed. This last book gives some great closure on the series, answers your questions and has a great story to go with it, fans won't want to miss it.
I wasn't quite sure how it would all go, what would happen with Rhine's situation and the book was full of surprises, I really enjoyed it and thought Lauren DeStefano ended her series really well.
Although its sad to see Rhine's journey end its always sad saying goodbye to a series, I liked how it ended up for her, there were some surprising, yet understandable twists and answers to questions I didn't even know I had which is the best kind of wrap up there is to a story. While it would be interesting to see more in this world I'm not sure where it would really be able to go anyway and I'm really excited for the authors upcoming new series to start because that sounds amazing too!
Sorry this review is short, I really can't think of more to say, the book was faultless, the characters as great as they always were and a brilliant plot.

My thoughts on the cover
I love these covers and all the little things the girl is surrounded by that represent parts of the story, its really cool, I also like how the bird is free on this cover whereas it was in a cage on the cover of the first book, much like as Rhine was trapped but by now she has some freedom, the colours are also really nice, I really love the background and the way it sets off her dress.

Favourite quote
'"I'm not through being angry," I say, my words muffled when he kisses me.
"Stop ruining it," he says, and kisses me again, and again, until I let go and I move into his waiting arms.'

Fever - Review

The chemical garden trilogy book two.

What's it about? Rhine and Gabriel have escaped the mansion. But danger is never far behind. Running away brings Rhine and Gabriel right into a trap, in the form of a twisted carnival whose ringmistress keeps watch over a menagerie of girls. Just as Rhine uncovers what plans await her, her fortune turns again. With Gabriel at her side, Rhine travels through an environment as grim as the one she left a year ago―surroundings that mirror her own feelings of fear and hopelessness. The two are determined to get to Manhattan, to relative safety with Rhine’s twin brother, Rowan. But the road there is long and perilous―and in a world where young woman only live to age twenty and young men die at twenty-five, time is precious. Worse still, they can’t seem to elude Rhine’s father-in-law, Vaughn, who is determined to bring Rhine back to the mansion… by any means necessary. In this sequel to Lauren DeStefano’s harrowing Wither, Rhine must decide if freedom is worth the price―now that she has more to lose than ever.
My review
I really enjoyed book one, Wither, so I was glad I had book two on hand to start right away and am happy to say I also enjoyed Fever just as much. I really liked the darker tone of the book as Rhine and Gabriel travel back to New York, and some of the things that happen to them had me wanting to peek through my fingers to read the book.
The author really did write a wonderfully imaginative book with some vivid descriptions and interesting personalities.
We do meet some new characters throughout, although none permanent I think (I hope) some will reappear in book three, Sever. My favourite of them all was young girl Maddie, she reminded me so much of my daughter who's also disabled and doesn't talk (though she makes plenty of noise!) much it made it impossible for me not to feel for her, especially during a certain scene that almost had me crying for her.
One complaint I do have is that there wasn't much development of the relationship between Rhine and Gabriel, sure they're there for each other but I didn't feel any chemistry and didn't think he added a lot to the story.
I enjoyed all of the shocking twists and the bits that had me squirming in my seat and I'm anxious for the last one to find out the conclusion.

My thoughts on the cover
First off, I like the green :p lol This is a really nice cover, I love the little rocking horse and of course the dress! I like that it fits in well with the cover of the first book.

I'm sorry, I got so excited reading the book I forgot to note down some favourite quotes!

Wednesdays Worldly covers - #28

Wednesdays worldly covers is a weekly feature where every week I share a cover from around the world.
I expect you've already guessed this one lol It's the Indonesian cover for Wither (or Layu which translates to Withered) by Lauren DeStefano. I've not read this book yet but I thought this cover was really interesting, it has similarities to the cover we know with the lines and the circle but it's completely different at the same time. The girl in the hourglass is completely intriguing.
And this is what I have sitting on myself, this one too is gorgeous and I think I prefer it, the colour is lovely and I'm totally curious about the bird in the cage.

Which do you prefer?
