What's it about?

Britt Pfeiffer has never been that adventurous, but that's about to change. Wanting to impress her ex-boyfriend, Britt convinces best friend, Korbie, to take a trekking trip with her. But when a freak storm leaves the girls stranded they seek shelter in a cabin, where they find two knights in shining armour. Or so they think.

Britt quickly realises that the girls need to get off the mountain, fast. In exchange for her life, she is forced to guide the boys down, and as they set out on a harrowing journey through the cold and snow, Britt realises the only way to escape with her life is to pretend she is on their side. But is gorgeous, sexy Mason an enemy or an ally? Tension mounts, and it's only a matter of time before things turn deadly . . .

My review

I have to admit I was a little apprehensive about reading Black ice, the little I'd heard about it was particularly positive and while I have read Becca's Hush, hush series, its not one of my favourites. That being said, I am SO glad I picked up Black ice because I absolutely loved it! I was hooked pretty early on, even though Korbie got on my nerves pretty badly I was still intrigued and when she was gone I couldn't stop reading, I had to know how it ended.

It's one of those books where you can't guess the end but once you get there, you realise just how many little clues were laid out for you along the way making it a very clever book.

Black ice is filled with twists and turns that will surprise you and keep you guessing and flying through the pages until you find out exactly what the hell is going on.

I found the story to be believable, including the ending and even the romance was done well. Going into the book all I could think was how can anyone fall for their captor? No matter the circumstances, how can you see someone who has kidnapped you, for what ever reason in a romantic way? But it was all handled really well and at a good pace so we weren't rushed into an unbelievable insta-love which would have ruined it completely.

I'm not usually one for thrillers but Black ice is definitely an exception for me, one that I will be recommending to others looking for a thriller within the YA genre and I hope Becca writes more more books like it as I will be first in the queue for my copy when that happens.

I haven't written reviews for the other two books because I read them before I was blogging so I'll start by telling you I really liked Hush, Hush although I was never a Patch fan and I liked Crescendo but I still wasn't a Patch fan and also went off Nora but I still love the story and was eager to get to this third installment and have to say it's my favourite of the series so far, Patch seems to have lost his arrogance and penchant for secrecy which made me able to really like his character and Nora wasn't so - for lack of a better term - whiny. She's been through a lot and is starting to grow up and although she does still have a short temper she asks the right questions more often so I didn't get frustrated with her like I did with Crescendo.
The first half of the book did move a little slow as we rehashed over the events of previous books but after that it did move at a good steady pace and made for an enjoyable read. I really feel Beccas writing has matured along with her characters which made for some really beautiful descriptions and I was really immersed in the book and after the ending I'm really excited to see where book four will take us.

I have to say though, I'm struggling to see the rebels as the bad guys, whilst the way they're going about things is wrong, I can't blame them for not wanting their bodies possessed for two weeks of the year and since some fallen angels force them to swear the oath it makes it even harder for me to be on their side like Nora seems to be. That being said I have some high hopes for Nora in the next book and would love to see her kicking butt and taking names!

I think everyone loves these covers, how can you not, this picture alone is stunning, the real shiny life version is even better, the books decorate my shelves really well lol Can't wait to see if they can top them with the next one.

Yes, today myself and Donna and Jess from Book passion for life had the pleasure of meeting Becca Fitzpatrick, since it's my first ever signing I wanted to share it with all of you.

I totally got tongue tighed when I met Becca but she was lovely and sign all three of my books from the series yay She also signed the extra copy of Silence I got for the charity auction in March.

Hush, Hush Graphic novel

Becca Fitzatrick's "Hush Hush" series has been a great success in the YA market and now, thanks to Sea Lion Books, "Hush Hush" is about to get a fabulous Graphic Novel make over.

With authors like Richelle Mead and Anne Rice working on different projects with Sea Lion Books, this is shaping up to be a good year to get into comics and Graphic Novels for both YA and Adult Paranormal book lovers :)

I've been lucky enough that Becca has agreed to take a little time in her very busy schedule, to answer a few questions about this exciting time, so here we go:

• "Hush Hush" has been a great success in book format,what prompted you to consider the idea of a Graphic Novel format? 

Readers often tell me that they can see scenes from Hush, Hush playing out in their minds—almost like watching a movie. I think because the story is very plot-driven, it translates well into a more visual medium. I think many of my readers are looking forward to viewing the story through artwork. 

• How did you envision the "Hush Hush" world and how did you communicate your vision to the artists working on the "Hush Hush" Graphic Novel illustrations?

Hush, Hush Book

I knew going into the project that the images in my head couldn't be perfectly replicated on the page. But honestly, I've been very pleased with the designs. While I didn’t want to dictate every last detail, I did provide character and setting descriptions to Jennyson Rosero (the artist) and he, in turn, translated my input into sketches.

• What is in your opinion the character that better translated into visual art and why?

So far I have been really pleased with all of them. But I have to say watching Patch come to life, through all of the different stages, has been particularly fun.

• How involved were you with the Graphic Novel project,and how much input did you give into the way it was shaped both visually and in the narrative?

In the early stages, there was quite a bit of back and forth. With each round, we got closer and closer to nailing the artwork. I also posted sketches on my blog several times, and readers gave an incredible amount of feedback. They've definitely had a hand in shaping the graphic novel.

• Are the other books being considered for Graphic Novel translation? Can you give us a little exclusive? :)

Hush, Hush will be adapted into three graphic novels. After that, we'll have to wait and see!

• Do you read Graphic Novels? What's your favourite?

As a child, I loved Archie Comics. For the record, I was Team Betty. Now, as an adult and mom of two boys, I read Bone by Jeff Smith, Batman, and Captain Underpants.

Hush, Hush the Graphic novel will be realeased 8th November 2011!
