My review
This is the final book in the Summer series so as you can imagine I was excited to see how it all ends and Jenny Han didn't disappoint with this final instalment. It's as breezy and easy to read as it's predecessors' and I really enjoyed it.
At first I was a little disappointed that it picked up two years from the end of book two but soon realised that was because it followed the same format as the other books and flicked back and forth so you do still see what happened in the time in between and get a full understanding of what's happened and how we're at the point that we're at now. I actually liked this way better than if it had been told straight through because all the books fit in together.
I also liked that there are a few scenes told from Conrad's pov, like there were ones from Jeremiah's in book two, it let us know what he's been feeling and thinking about, now and the past.
All along I've, of course, had my suspicions of how it might go and my 'team', so I was on edge throughout the book waiting to see if I was proved right or wrong, I won't tell you if I was but I was pleased with how it ended, though I'd liked to have seen more of the end, it's the only part of this book I found slightly lacking, the rest though was great. It was lovely to see Belly and the boys all grown up and getting a hint of where they're planning to go with their futures.
The whole Summer series was really enjoyable and I'm looking forward to whatever the author comes up with next as I'll be getting whatever it is as soon as it releases!

My thoughts on the cover
Of course, this matches the other covers and it is really pretty, I love the horseshoes and wedding bells that signify this is really the end where Belly makes her choice, and the pink is also really pretty.

Favourite quotes
'It's a known fact in life, you can't have everything. In my heart I knew I loved them both, as much as it is possible to love two people at the same time.'

'Just for that moment, the thought that I might never see him again... it felt worse than death.'

It's not summer without you - Review

Summer book two.
Available now.
www.penguin.co.uk

What's it about?

One girl. Two brothers. Which one will she choose? Isabel's lazy, long hot summers at her family friends' beach house are over. Conrad - sexy and unavailable - is the only boy she's ever loved. He's left for college, taking her heart with him. Jeremiah, his gorgeous brother, is still Isabel's best friend - but maybe friendship isn't enough for him anymore ...Isabel just wants everything to stay the same, because change means moving on. But if she stops looking back, will she find a future she never knew she wanted?

The summer I turned pretty - Book one.
My review
I really enjoyed book one, The summer I turned pretty, so I was grateful I had book two to start right away.
It's not summer without you was just as good as it's predecessor, Jenny Han has a good knack for writing something that flows so easily you don't even realise you've reached the end until there are no more words.
This picks up the next summer following the previous book, so it's a year later but as with the first one the chapters go back and forth between the present and the near past, I really liked that this theme had been kept in this book, it made it fit well within the series.
Belly has started growing up, though she is still a little immature sometimes, aren't we all lol but I still love her, she's a great character whom I wish I could be friends with.
There were also a few chapters from Jeremiah's point of view that really insightful into his feelings, I'm still team Conrad all the way right now but both boys have their qualities, I really cannot wait to see who she ends up with and what will become of the other boy, on to book three!

My thoughts on the cover
This cover is really pretty, just like the first and they fit in well, I love all the little hearts making the big heart and the summery orange and yellow.

Favourite quotes
'When I got home, my mother was so mad. But I didn't regret it. I never regretted it, not for one second. How do you regret one of the best nights of your entire life? You don't. You remember every word, every look. Even when it hurts, you still remember.'

'This is what people meant when they said the earth stopped turning. It felt like a world outside of that car, that moment, didn't exist. It was just us.'

The summer I turned pretty - Review

Summer book one
Available now
www.penguin.co.uk

What's it about?

Some summers are just destined to be pretty.
Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer -- they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one wonderful and terrible summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.
My review
The summer I turned pretty was such a fun read and a perfect example of a simple beach read, its short and sweet, full of sun, sand and hot boys!
I really enjoyed this story and found Belly to be a lovely character, she's a little immature at times, but then she is only 15! She really has the sense that this is her 'last' summer, things are going to change and she's growing up. I liked the way it also went back to past summers here and there so we could understand the dynamics between the characters at this point and how she feels about both boys.
I easily picked my 'team' early on in the book and I'm sticking with my choice thus far lol.
I found Jenny Hans writing to be light and breezy and I flew through the pages of this book, the story isn't too complex and it was just the easy read I needed right now, I would definitely recommend The summer I turned pretty if you're looking for a book to take away on holiday.
I've already started book two and am looking forward to seeing how the trilogy continues and of course who she ends up with!

My thoughts on the cover
This cover suits the title as it's really pretty, I really like all the flowers and the way they become mixed together, the colours are really nice too.

Favourite quotes
'It was coming home after you'd been gone a long, long time. It held a million promises of summer and of what just might be.'

'I walked out there, to the porch, without a real plan in mind. All I knew was that the summer was almost over. Soon it would be too late. We would drive away, and I would never have told him.'

UK vs THE WORLD! (21)

UK vs. The world is a weekly meme I made up lol.
It's simlair to UK vs. US except the UK covers are battling it out with their foreign counterparts from all over the world, because who doesn't love judging books by their covers!

UK                          vs.                Germany
Small blue thing book one.
('Nur ein Hauch von dir' translates to 'Just a small glimpse of you.' - According to Google translate.)

Mist: Both of these covers are lovely but I think I'm swayed more by the UK cover, I prefer that shade of blue and the bracelet and bubbles are gorgeous. The German cover is nice to though, I really like the city in the background and the patterns around the edge and the amazing blue colour of the eyes but I think the UK cover is prettier and different to other covers.

Ninfa: Both covers are kinda nice, but I think I prefer the UK cover. The bracelet falling in the water matches the tag line perfectly and intrigues me as to what the book is about. The German cover, although very pretty, doesn't quiet catch me in the same way.
UK wins :)

UK                        vs.                    France
Summer series book one.
('L'été où je suis devenue jolie' translates to 'The summer I became pretty.' - According to Google translate.)

Mist: Hmm I like both of these to, the shells and all the colours and sand on the French cover make me think of summer but so do the flowers on the UK cover, both are nice in their own ways but I think I prefer the brighter colours of the UK cover.

Ninfa: I love the UK cover with the burst of daises; the colours are so pretty and girlie and fun :) The French cover is sweet and makes me think of summer, with the seashells and the sand, but I really love the UK cover, so I'm going Brit again :)

Which do you prefer?
