Here lies Bridget review

Here Lies Bridget by Paige Harbison, published by Mira Ink £6.99 http://www.miraink.co.uk/
What's it about?
Bridget Duke is the uncontested ruler of her school. The meanest girl with the biggest secret insecurities. And when new girl Anna Judge arrives, things start to fall apart for Bridget: friends don't worship as attentively, teachers don't fall for her wide-eyed "who me?" look, expulsion looms ahead and the one boy she's always loved—Liam Ward—can barely even look at her anymore.

When a desperate Bridget drives too fast and crashes her car, she ends up in limbo, facing everyone she's wronged and walking a few uncomfortable miles in their shoes. Now she has only one chance to make a last impression. Though she might end up dead, she has one last shot at redemption and the chance to right the wrongs she's inflicted on the people who mean the most to her.

And Bridget's about to learn that, sometimes, saying you're sorry just isn't enough….

My review:
4/5
This book really is like a guilty pleasure! I know I shouldn't like protag Bridget, she's mean, selfish, immature, and completely self involved, yet I loved her and found her to be really quite funny! As we go along we learn that she acts like she does because she's insecure and craves attention from an absentee Dad, but She goes about it the wrong way. These were things that endeared her to me.
The book itself was written and laid out really well so everything lined up. The first half follows Bridget and the events leading up to her being trapped in limbo and shows her character, it's funny and had me gasping out loud at her outrageous behaviour.
Then in the second half I found myself close to tears several times as Bridget literally walks in the shoes of the people she's hurt and sees just how bad she's been, and is desperate to just atone for her actions and become a better person.
It felt very much like a modern day 'It's a wonderful life' and I loved it. I definitely would recommend to all my friends.
