Here's the cover for the brand new Brazilian edition of DARKE ACADEMY: SECRET LIVES. I love it - I really like the UK covers, too, but this is very different and sinister.
There's been a long pause after Book 3 in the series. When that episode concluded, Cassie and her friends were left stunned by the terrible turn of events. Everything changed in Istanbul - for everyone, even the mercurial principal Sir Alric Darke.
I've been contacted by many readers wanting to know what happens next - will Ranjit and Cassie defeat the forces working against them, and find happiness, or will their Few status part them forever? What about the star-crossed lovers Isabella and Jake? Will Katerina and her evil mother get their comeuppance? And as for Richard, a favourite character with so many... what will become of him, and might he in fact be the saving of Cassie?
The fact is, I wonder all those things too! And while Hodder haven't committed yet to a fourth book, the good news is that Hothouse Fiction (the series originators) have decided the story must have an ending, and we have to find out what happens to Cassie and Co. - so I'll be starting to write DARKE ACADEMY 4 very soon indeed...
So here's hoping for a definite decision on publication soon. Meanwhile, I'm off to the Darke Academy to catch up with the characters. Kenya sounds like a fabulous setting for a school...
Gillian Philip.
So, pretty awesome news ay! For those of you that haven't read or maybe even heard of the books here's the UK covers and synopsis for the first book.
Secret lives: The Darke Academy is a school like no other. An elite establishment that moves to an exotic new city every term, its students are impossibly beautiful, sophisticated and rich. And the more new scholarship girl Cassie Bell learns about the Academy, the more curious she becomes. What sinister secrets are guarded by the Few -- the select group of students who keep outsiders away? Who is the dark stranger prowling the corridors at night? And what really happened a year earlier, when the last scholarship girl died in mysterious circumstances? One thing Cassie will discover is that a little knowledge may be a dangerous thing, but knowing too much can be deadly...
