The sequels - Reading challenge 2012 - sign-up

Hi guys. So I know I've left it a bit late but I've thought of a challenge for 2012 and wanted to invite you all to join me.
It is The sequels challenge
Over the course of this year I've bought sequels to books I've read, some of them even being the last in a series, that I've been really excited about, yet somehow I've ended up not reading them.
And so I decided to challenge myself to read them next year along with other sequels I buy before I really fall behind in all my favourite series'

If you'd like to join me in this challenge you can use the linky below to sign-up and on January 1st (or there abouts) I'll post another linky list for you to link your reviews of the books you have read. At the end of the year I'll do a giveaway for everyone that completed the challenge.

I'm gonna make the rules pretty flexible and here they are:

-To complete the challenge and be eligible for the giveaway at the end you must read at least 24 books in the year
 - That's two a month which I think is fair and doable.
-If you don't have a blog then link to where you've reviewed the book, if you didn't review it then link to where you track the books you've read like Goodreads or Shelfari. If you don't have any of these, er I guess link to the book you read on amazon or something lol
-Completing the challenge of 24 books will get you one entry into the giveaway, any additional book after that will get you another entry so keep linking when your finished.
-A sequel doesn't have to be a second book it can be any book in the series excluding the first of course.
-You can sign-up anytime all year.
-It would be awesome if you added the button to your blog or blogged the challenge or even both to show your participation and spread the word but it isn't mandatory.
-As it's a year away I haven't decided on any prizes yet for the giveaway but it'll likely be two or three sequels that are out around this time next year :)

I think I've covered everything but if you have any questions please comment or email bookaholics@live.co.uk and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

  5. Awesome challenge! It sounds tailor made for me :) I've done a post on my blog and snagged the button so now all I need is January to get here so I can start reading!

Quick question: Do rereads count? I've got a couple of series that have been on hold for so long I need to restart at the beginning so there are a handful of sequels I've already read but will reread.

  16. Hello from Canada!

Would love something like this (too large a % is'YA' - blah)! The question I seem to be repeating on grown-up material I managed to find (LOL) is: since I found you so late and if I adhere to material read no earlier Jan-1-12; might I please include those?

Bridging the timing handicap would make 24 titles likely and I do so want an Amazon.ca gift certificate or the like! :) Thank you.

  17. Oh yes! Permission for titles to mix with reading challenges is also appreciated. Then no reason not to join your circle. I'd be honoured to have a UK hostess! I was there recently and love it. Absolutely love it.

  18. Hello from Canada everyone! Misty & I touched based about joining you ages ago. I needed to compose a commitment post before I signed-up, so here it is with my title hopefuls! It hasn't happened much so far but I'm here for the opportunity to discuss the same books and build readership for my 'RIEDEL Fascination' blog. xoxo, Carolyn.
