Rebel angels book one.

('Непокорна кръв' translates to 'Rebellious blood.' - According to Google translate.)

Mist: I haven't read this book so I don't know which suits the story best but I prefer the Bulgarian cover. Even though they're both quite similar I like the real man as opposed to the drawn one and I like all the fire and castles in the background. Generally I just find the Bulgarian cover more striking and its the one I'd choose to have on my shelf.

Ninfa: These are very similar covers, almost like the same scene in a movie. I like the darker colours in the UK cover, but there's something heroic about the Bulgarian cover, with the horse galloping and the warrior ready to fight. I like the castle backdrop, and the village burning.
As I said, all the elements in both covers are very similar, but I think this time I prefer the Bulgarian cover.

My review

This is a favourite series of mine and I've been hotly anticipating the final book to see how everything goes down in the end. Renegade does not disappoint and is full of all the action and twists as the previous books and is an excellent seal on the series. I don't want to say too much, what with it being the fourth book and chances are, if you're reading this review then you've already read at least some of the series and are curious about whether it keeps up t its high standards. Well I can confirm that it does, its another brilliant book and I enjoyed it from start to finish. I think the story was ended well and liked the ending. I haven't started the authors other series yet so I'm really looking forward to seeing what she comes up with next as she's a very talented and imaginative lady!

My thoughts on the cover
Love it! I love the new design all the covers have, they look more slick and blend together better and of course I love that both Heven and Sam are on here... But - and I know I'm being picky - where is Heven's scar?

Click: An online love story - Book one

My review

I really enjoyed book one, Click: An online love story, so I've been really anticipating the release of book two and enjoyed it just as much. Double click has all the laughs of the first book, a couple of new characters and some fun twists. The book was an absolute pleasure to read and I got through it in a day! Once again, even though the book is told through emails so you hear about everything after the characters have done it, I didn't feel like I missed anything, its all very realistic like when conversations move onto teasing and messing around because that is how we talk with our friends. I also liked that Ethan is now included in this one too and also someone else new, but I won't spoil. I also thought the addition of email forwards for cute cat pictures and videos was hilarious because don't we all get annoying forwards like that lol.
Amongst all the humour that kept me giggling was also a great and simple story for all of the characters and it was great to see where they went next and if relationships would work out and I even got emotional alongside the girls towards the end of the book.
I really don't know what more I can say that wouldn't just be gushing about how great this book is so I'll leave it at this, if you haven't tried Click: An online love story, then you should and if you have, then you should definitely pick up Double click!

Hello! So I didn't get any books last week but I'm back this week with an awesome stack, I would have done a vlog but I only got the majority of them yesterday so there hasn't been time, but anyway, on to the books!

First off, I got two books for review this week, Terminus by Adam Baker, this is the sequel to the brilliant Outpost and third book in the series altogether, I actually started it the day it arrived because I couldn't wait and loving it so far. Revenge wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger was a random book, I haven't read the first but I did enjoy the movie so I'll probably pick this up when I'm in the mood for it.

Next, I went to Simon and Schusters little blogger party yesterday and received all of these amazing goodies!

My review

The hit was an interesting dystopian novel set in a believable, if extreme, future England on the cusp of a revolution.
Although I really enjoyed the book, I have to admit, most of the time I found lead character Adam to be pretty obnoxious and annoying which made it hard to relate to him or feel sorry for him when things were going badly. I didn't find Lizzie to be much better either but I really liked the premise and story, so the book was still easy to get through.
It's a great idea for a book, and while at first thought you might think its crazy, the more I thought about it, the more I realised that if there was a drug like this, people would take it for various reasons and they way the author tackled this is what I liked so much about the book. The general storyline was a bit over the top with some colourful characters but it certainly kept the story going at a fast pace with things constantly moving forward.

Nail your books (12)

I know I've done MetaWars nails before (see here) but these ones are inspired by the cover of the latest in the series, Battle of the immortal.

I used Maybelline 'Winner takes it all,' Rimmel 'Black cab,' and a white Barry M nail art pen. As you can see these are similar to last time, except in black and gold, this time I choose to do a gradient effect but unfortunately it didn't come off very well but I still like it. I also drew the 'Guardians' and 'Millenials' symbols on my thumbs - readers of the books will know what they are - My symbol for the Millenials is a bit wonky because I'm just not that good drawing with my left hand lol but I like the overall result :)

Mist: I think its a UK win for me this week, the Aus cover is pretty and reminds me of summer but there isn't much else going on, I really like the shattered effect used on the UK cover, it really makes me curious what the book is about, like it might have a dark edge to it whereas the Aus cover makes it look like a simple beach read.

Ninfa: I really like the UK cover. The shattering effect is brilliant and only if you look closely you realise that the three girls are actually the same. It really makes it interesting and intriguing.
The Aussie cover is pretty, very soft and very different in feel from the UK one, but it lacks in edge for me.

My review

This is not a test is so much more than just another zombie novel, its as much about Sloane's emotional journey and state of mind. When we start the book Sloane is depressed and resigned to commit suicide, but then the Zombie apocalypse gets in the way and she finds herself holed up in a high school with five other teenagers, but she's still wrestling with her demons and looking for a way out. As the book goes on we learn what's happened to Sloane in the past that's made her feel how she does now, its very much part of the story as the Zombies are and the terror that's come over the world.
I enjoyed This is not a test a lot and really liked getting right into Sloane's head. I know it sounds like it could be depressing, following a character who wants to kill herself but its really not, I felt I understood her to a point and could see why she was struggling. I'd like to have seen more of an ending as it was a bit abrupt but otherwise it was a great book.

Monument 14 - Review

What's it about?

Fourteen kids. One superstore. A million things that go wrong ...

Fourteen kids stranded inside a superstore. Inside they have everything they could ever need. There's junk food and clothes, computer games and books, drugs and alcohol ... and without adult supervision they can do whatever they want.

Sounds like fun? 

But outside the world is being ripped apart by violent storms and chemicals leaking into the atmosphere that, depending on blood type, leave victims paranoid, violent or dead. 

The kids must remain inside, forced to create their own community, unsure if they'll ever be able to leave. Can they stop the world they've created inside from self-destructing too?

My review

Monument 14 was an interesting and thrilling book which I thoroughly enjoyed. I really like the idea of the kids being locked in a Greenway (a giant supermarket kind of place) they have everything they need to survive so the gang doesn't spend half the book looking for food and water, as is the case in a lot of post apocalyptic type books, instead it was all about how they would survive together, how different personalities might clash and how they respond to emergencies and deciding if they should leave. I really liked these aspects of the book and thought the author did a great job.

It's written really well and I found it to be very realistic. For a change the protagonist, a young boy called Dean, isn't perfect or even particularly heroic or completely likeable, and these were things I actually liked about the book. Dean is telling the story and he's honest about everything even the bad things he does, like lying. Even though it doesn't always make him a great guy, it made the character more believable and relateable and it was another thing that gave this book an edge against so many books like it.
The story itself was exciting and kept a good pace considering the whole book is set in one place, there are lots of characters and little stories to follow but not too many so I didn't get mixed up. I am really looking forward to book two and seeing what happens to everyone next.

Excerpt

“Bodhi, what we have is special to me. We have a sort of connection that for the life of me I cannot explain. I’ve told you before how your touch feels like a sort of gravity. As for your kisses, they give me butterflies in my tummy like you wouldn’t believe. When we’re alone together, I don’t think about anything except for us. I… care about you.” I faltered those last 3 words. It had come to feel like more than just caring about him, but I wasn’t willing to admit that yet.

“Wow. You really do care about me? I had hoped you did and what we had wasn’t just a bit of fun while you were figuring out where your head was at. I feel the same, you know?! When you kiss me, it sends shivers down my spine and when you touch me, it’s electric. I feel alive. Not just living but truly alive.” he confessed.

I looked at him and saw the smile on his face as he spoke. We had time to figure out exactly what we had, but for now, I knew he cared for me as much as I cared for him. That thought made me smile inside and out.

We got home and as we stepped out of the car, Bodhi took my hand and led me to the pergoda where we lay on the floor with the blanket underneath us. We lay encircled in each other’s arms and Bodhi kept trailing light kisses from my lips, to my jaw, to my arm.

As he came back up to my lips, I kissed him with such fervour. He drew me closer to him and the kiss deepened into something I had never felt before.

I couldn’t admit it to Bodhi but if I was falling in love with him, if this was what love felt like, I was happy to be feeling something so special for such a great guy. Not only was he hot as all Hell to look at, he was an amazing person underneath the surface too. If this really was love, then so be it.

About the author
Keren lives in the UK and is an avid bookworm; she has been since she read things like Black Beauty, What Katy Did and The Hobbit as a child. Her first real memories of reading are the summers she used to lie on her bed and re-read What Katy Did and What Katy Did Next.

Over the years she has come to realise that she is a bit OCD about books. They have to be in perfect condition without the slightest bit of damage.

She is a book reviewer and has been for the past 18 months or so.

The idea for Stolen came to her one day but she never thought she’d actually write it let alone publish it. If it wasn’t for her author friend Kira Saito, the idea would still be stuck in her head not on paper. But constant love and support from Kira is why you are now able to read Stolen.

Stolen is her first novel but now that she’s written one, she knows she needs to write more. There will be one sequel, called Freed which will be from Bodhi’s POV. This will be set a couple of years on.

Then, the plan is for her to write either NA or Adult Contemporary Romances. She has a big crush on Lady Antebellum’s music at the moment and their songs have inspired a few book ideas.
